The Power Station
Our drop in youth centre in the middle of Linlithgow is open on a
Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evening from 7-10pm and Friday
afternoon from 1-4pm.
The centre has 2 pool tables, a fusball table, wireless internet
access, XBox 360, PS2, sofas and Sky sports and music channels.
The White Room Music Studio
The Power Station also has its own fully equipped rehearsal room and
recording facilities. To use the room you need to become a member of
the Music Studio.
Membership is open to all those interested in playing and making music.
A membership form can be obtained from the LYPP office or Power Station
and costs £5 for the year.
We also offer sessions with musicians and recording engineers
throughout the term to help develop your skills and opportunities to
perform at regular gigs. The studio is available to members during all
drop in times.
The LYPP
Outdoor Activities Club provides opportunities for young people to
experience the excitement and highs of extreme sports. This includes
kayaking, climbing, mountaineering, expeditions, snowboarding and
ski-ing and survival courses.
The LYPP
Climbing Club is held
every Monday during the school term and meets at Linlithgow Academy at
7:30 p.m. The group then travels to climb at Ratho International
Climbing Centre and returns to the Academy by 10pm.
LYPP
provides all transport, equipment and instruction free of charge. The
only cost to young people is the entrance fee to the venue -
£3.25.
During the school holidays the infamous LYPP Survivor
Courses are held. If spending 3 or 4 days in the wilderness
learning survival skills and bushcraft is your thing then look out for
details in the Special
Events section.
LYPP also runs camping trips where you get the
chance to learn about campcraft, navigation, health and hygiene and
nutrition as well as learning about the environment.
All outdoor activities are run by professionally
qualified staff and LYPP holds comprehensive insurance cover. A
£10 membership fee is taken annually for the Outdoor Activities
Club – for this you receive insurance cover from the Mountaineering
Council of Scotland and a free monthly magazine.
